Theology with a Twist: Midrash and Recovery

October 9, 2018 @ 7:00 pm - 8:30 pm

One understanding of the Hebrew term “Midrash” is: Reading biblical stories in a way that makes inferences based upon similarity of content and analogy. Many Bible stories teach a message of healing and reunification with people and communities previously lost due to illness, shame, stubbornness and impulsiveness. We will discuss a few different Biblical stories, and how they have helped some people living with addiction connect once more to their faith, their family and a sense of hope and healing.

Rev. Zoe is ordained through Metropolitan Community Church and serves as Lead Spiritual Counselor at the Caron Treatment Center in Wernersville, PA, working with the Teen, Young Adult and Women’s Primary and Extended Care populations. She graduated from Lancaster Theological Seminary in 2010 and began working at Lancaster General Hospital (Lancaster, PA), followed by St. Luke’s Hospital (Bethlehem, PA) in Residency programs prior to starting her ministry at Caron in 2012. As well as working with the above-mentioned patient population, she facilitates specialty groups, such as Grief & Loss Group, and also teaches new employees about the 12 Steps, including how they can be practically applied in day-to-day life.

Theology with a Twist is free. Food and drink are available for purchase.
