Theology with a Twist: Byron Borger

December 12, 2017 @ 7:00 pm - 8:30 pm

Reading as Subversive Practice, Books as Tools for Transformation:

10 Things Books Can Do For You.

In a fast-paced, digital age there is something counter-cultural about the slower practice of reading. Join an independent bookstore owner talk about the influence of books on culture, how intentional reading can be transformative, and hear stories of how books have changed lives and served as catalysts for subverting the status quote. Reading with a twist, perhaps? This will be a lively and engaging time of reminding ourselves of the potential of the printed page.

Byron Borger, along with his wife, Beth, own and operate Hearts & Minds, an independent Christian bookstore in Dallastown, PA which they have run for 34 years. He speaks widely about the transforming consequences of the gospel for all of life and has lead workshops on reading, applied theology, cultural engagement, and social justice. Byron has written for various publications, including Sojourners, Q Ideas, Comment, and the Center for Public Justice’s Capitol Commentary. Even though committed to the old-school printed page, he enjoys using social media and blogs regularly about books in their newsletter BookNotes. www.heartsandmindsbooks.com/booknotes
