The heavens have always been a source of wonder and awe for humans since the beginning of recorded history.  Wise people with creative minds have observed the heavens to search for meaning about our world.  While some of those studies have been scientific in nature, even more have been from a religious or spiritual perspective.  Join us as we look at the ways that different religions, peoples, and holy texts have reflected those studies.  Can the heavens also predict events on earth?  Do the patterns of the stars and planets influence the course of our lives?  We will also be looking at the modern practice of astrology and attempt to answer the age-old debate of the role of the heavens in our daily lives and behaviors.

Michelle Koch is an amateur astronomer who also practices Contemplative Spirituality.  She has been an astronomy enthusiast since the age of 5 and enjoys discussing how spiritual things intersect in all aspects of our lives.  Michelle is affiliated with several local nature organizations and enjoys spending her free time exploring nature.  .

Soul Café is a “coffee house” type of discussion on matters of general interest and is held at the Wyomissing Family Restaurant on the third Tuesday at 10:00 a.m. Topics have ranged from contemporary issues, social justice concerns, matters of faith, and how organizations are working to address the needs of our society.
