We have some “stars of yarn” at St. Luke’s U.C.C. in Dublin, PA. Several ladies of the church knit or crochet prayer shawls in an array of colors that are given to friends or family of church members in need of encouragement.
A prayer note is sent along with the beautiful shawl. So far 30 shawls have been gifted to people. Sometimes the need is close to home. Recently one of our own knitters received a shawl during a difficult time.
Two prayer shawls that are waiting for a “home”. During the season of Lent, every family in the congregation fills hygiene kits for Church World Service. This year we surpassed previous years in number of kits sent. Our members generously filled 40 bags to be sent to areas of need in the U.S. and around the world.
The members of St. Luke’s give generously to our local food bank, Pennridge FISH. Last year we gave 466 pounds of shelf stable food and paper products. We also give school supplies every summer to fill student backpacks and money for Christmas gifts that are distributed to children within the Pennridge FISH area.
