It is filled with poetry\, stories of compassion\, and the Golden Rule so how is it that in recent controversies about banning books\, this text keeps getting caught in the crossfire?  We invite you to join Rev Becky Sausser as she present the ‘Naughty Bits of the Bible’. \nRev Sausser serves as head pastor of St John’s UCC in Allentown. She is a self-proclaimed ‘Bible-Nerd’ with a deep reverence and appreciation for the Bible; she approaches scripture\, sermons and life in general with a healthy dose of humor and caffeine. \nTheology with a Twist meets at the Kutztown Tavern at 272 W Main St\, Kutztown\, PA 19530. We gather in the upper room of the tavern the first Tuesday of each month at 7pm for a time of learning and discussion about a variety of spiritual\, religious\, and theological topics presented by local experts in their field. The event is free but food and drink can be purchased in the restaurant downstairs and brought up to our event space. Parking is available in the community lot behind the tavern or on Main Street. DESCRIPTION:In this three-hour Advanced Boundary Training on ZOOM\, the issues around pastoring to others while experiencing your own challenges will be explored. When clergy are experiencing a crisis themselves\, how can they remain pastorally effective while also tending to their own needs? How much should one share with your congregation about your own physical\, emotional\, and spiritual challenges? How does one set up healthy boundaries with a congregation\, while also acknowledging their desire to care for you? These issues and others will be discussed in this training with a mixture of teaching\, discussion\, and case studies. \nThe following two GPC Ministers  are conducting the this Boundary Training: \nDonna Mast is an Eastern Mennonite Seminary graduate with a double major in Pastoral Care and Counseling and Christian Spiritual Formation. Since graduation\, she has served as a pastor\, spiritual director\, conference minister\, and most recently a Gestalt Pastoral Care minister. While we still cover the “requirements\,”we believe the best prevention involves encouraging leaders to take steps to manage their stress in order to maintain balance and perspective when temptation to violate boundaries arises. \nThis live online boundaries training is 5 total hours split over 2 consecutive days (2.5 hours each day).
