Two of its most important gifts are the focus on the free self-giving goodness of God\,  and the central role of gratitude in the lives of the faithful. The Reformed tradition insists that God is not only the giver of every good thing\, but is also the one who freely gives Godself to us\, so that “God may be all in all” (1 Cor. 15:28). Our lives should therefore express gratitude not only for the abundant gifts God freely gives us\, but for the gift of God’s very self to us. Bertrand”\n PROGRAM: What if the solution for the decline of today’s church isn’t more money\, people\, programs\, innovation\, or busyness? What if the answer is to stop and wait on God. The authors show how actively watching and listening to God can bring life out of death for churches in crisis today. Using clear steps and practices they invite church leaders to stop the endless cycle of doing more and rather to simply “be” in God’s presence.\nOUR SPEAKER: Katherine Willis Pershey serves as one of the co-pastors at First Congregational Church United Church of Christ in Appleton\, Wisconsin. DESCRIPTION:This year we\, the four PA Conferences of the UCC\, will come together to celebrate the 300th Anniversary of the German Reformed Church in the United States which began with the first communion at Faulkner Swamp\, October 15\, 1725. This celebration of our immigrant heritage is particularly meaningful and instructive given the current conversations about immigration happening around the nation. \nOn Sunday October 12th\, we will celebrate with communion\, this special anniversary.  Our guest preacher will be our General Minister and President\, The Rev. DESCRIPTION:Theology with a Twist meets at the Kutztown Tavern at 272 W Main St\, Kutztown\, PA 19530. We gather in the upper room of the tavern the first Tuesday of each month at 7pm for a time of learning and discussion about a variety of spiritual\, religious\, and theological topics presented by local experts in their field. The event is free but food and drink can be purchased in the restaurant downstairs and brought up to our event space. Parking is available in the community lot behind the tavern or on Main Street.
