SUMMARY:Reception and Service for the 300th Anniversary of the First Communion of the German Reformed Church in America
DESCRIPTION:This year we\, the four PA Conferences of the UCC\, will come together to celebrate the 300th Anniversary of the German Reformed Church in the United States which began with the first communion at Faulkner Swamp\, October 15\, 1725. This celebration of our immigrant heritage is particularly meaningful and instructive given the current conversations about immigration happening around the nation. \nOn Sunday October 12th\, we will celebrate with communion\, this special anniversary.  Our guest preacher will be our General Minister and President\, The Rev. Dr. Karen Georgia Thompson. \nWe will begin with the service\, including communion\, at 3:00 pm with a reception following. \nTO REGISTER:\nThe service itself will be hybrid.  Please click here to register (for free)\, for either in-person on a hybrid experience.  You must have an “in person” registration to attend in person.

DESCRIPTION:Gifts of the Reformed Church Going Forward w/ Dr. Randall Zachman\nDr. Zachman examines what are the unique gifts that the Reformed theological tradition can offer to the church going into the future? Two of its most important gifts are the focus on the free self-giving goodness of God\,  and the central role of gratitude in the lives of the faithful. The Reformed tradition insists that God is not only the giver of every good thing\, but is also the one who freely gives Godself to us\, so that “God may be all in all” (1 Cor. 15:28). Our lives should therefore express gratitude not only for the abundant gifts God freely gives us\, but for the gift of God’s very self to us.
