“What is copyright?”

“Copyright” is the legal protection of a creative work. Using a work without permission that is under copyright is against the law and penalties can be financially severe. There is no exemption from copyright law for churches. E-I-EricAnderson-72Forty five participants attended the Social Media seminar on February 7 and 8, 2014 with Rev. Eric S. Anderson, Minister for Communications and Technology, Connecticut Conference of the United Church of Christ. They were well informed and entertained by Rev. Eric S. Anderson’s presentation. Some highlights (minus his delightful stories, videos, and examples) are included in this article. A special thanks to the Connecticut Conference for sharing their Minister of Communications and Technology.

Rev. Anderson reminded us several times during the three sessions that the Most Important Thing to Remember: If it passes through the Internet, IT IS PUBLIC. Don’t put anything on the internet that you do not want to share with the WORLD. Click on the title to read more.

The PSEC website is the online home to all the current information about what’s happening in the Conference. In addition to news and events, there are directories for local churches, pastors, and Conference teams, committees, and task groups. Registration for many Conference events is available online. Visitors may make secure donations to Conference ministries, programs, and emergency response efforts.

Communitas is our PSEC weekly newsletter published by Conference staff for insertion in the worship bulletins, newsletters, or of our local churches. It includes stories and news articles from the local and national church, periodic listings of the calendar of events and classified offerings and a Prayer Partner request for the PSEC church that has been lifted in prayer that week.

Prayer Partners

Each week, the Pennsylvania Southeast Conference lifts up one of our 170 churches as we pray for the mission and ministry of the week’s “Prayer Partner.” The churches are honored in Communitas the Conference newsletter that is shared in the Sunday worship bulletins of our churches. In addition to the article in Communitas, each church is given a page on the PSEC website to share their mission and ministry news and include links to their websites. We invite you to learn more about the United Church of Christ as we serve the Still Speaking God in southeastern Pennsylvania.
